August 20th, 2010First up (ok, so this is old news… anywhooo…)
The Vintage Vinyl Collection
Four characters, this time all dolls have new faces AND bodies but the same old hands.
Rufus Blue – face with opened mouth smile, previously this character used the Monsieur Z face sculpts
Sooki – new face sculpt… WHY??? I loved the old one…
Reese – finally has her OWN face, before she used the same sculpts as Rufus Blue and Gavin
Gavin – face with closed mouth smile, apart from that, same face sculpt as used by Rufus Blue now and before
And coming soon (definition of soon depends on how patient you are)
The Chill Factor Collection
This collection consists of three characters, none repeated from the previous collection… why they didn’t do four is strange since it leaves one new face sculpt out (open mouth smile).
Aria – she’s back and this time she uses the closed mouth smile
Eltin – again she shares Sooki’s face sculpt as before
Neve – NEW CHARACTER! this doll uses the “new” Reese face sculpt
Will leave any judgements and critiques up to you (ok, I think ALL the outfits are HORRIBLE ICK and HORRIBLE but I quite like most of the dolls… the “diversity” is nice…)
…I’ve been reading the word “mouth” too much in a short period of time… it’s starting to look like a nonsense word ???
9 Silkstone Dolls in 2010 – All White
July 25th, 2010The final word is in (strange since it’s only July still) and the Barbie Silkstone line of dolls, also officially called the Barbie Fashion Model Collection is to consist of 9 dolls this year.
First, there was the Palm Beach line of dolls -
- Swim Suit
- Breeze
- Coral
- Honey (Honey is the DOG!)
- Sugar Daddy (Sugar is the DOG!) – poor dude got shelved due to conservative complaints and never made it into real life…
Then the Mad Man line was announced…
- Betty Draper
- Don Draper
- Joan Holloway
- Roger Sterling
At least this line had MALE DOLLS… who weren’t cancelled! Can you imagine Don and Roger getting cancelled anyway? hmmm… is it because they are philandering jerks and most definitely not gay?
And finally, since this year is the 10th year anniversary of the Barbie Fashion Model Collection, a commemorative doll is going to be issued. As of this date, this doll has not been made public yet but there is word that she is very blonde with sparkling blue eyes. Definitely not African American.
Why does it matter if an African American doll is included in this line this year or not. This line is considered by many collectors to be the high end range of adult collectable barbie dolls. To exclude the representation of an African American doll is very telling… and not in a good way.
Flashdance Jennifer Beals to be Barbiefied… in white
May 26th, 2010As part of their Ladies of the 80′s Barbie doll series, Mattel is making a miniature Alex Owens as played by Jennifer Beals from the iconic 1980′s movie Flashdance (1983).
The doll looks like this…
Basically that’s…
… in that same pale skin tone too…
… wearing…
(plus black singlet under the grey sweater and black leg warmers)
Babeh Bunneh News!
May 10th, 2010Reasons to why blog updates are far and few inbetween…
- neverending work
- apartment hunting
- lazy
- BABY BUNNIES… or single bunny for now…
Moo is short for Moomoo – named by my partner because he apparently looks like a dairy cow… He’s 2 months old, Dutch breed, has a chubby little tummy and sweet as can be!
Noggie is short for Caerbannog – Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog that is… from Monty Python and the Holy Grail – I got to choose that name hehe although we’ve been referring to him as “tantrum bunny” most of the time already. He is only 1 month old so he still needs to be with his mother for another month before we can pick him up.
We are convinced that Neef’s spirit is already teaching lil Moo how to be naughty already… now for some more pics of lil Moo
