Basically gravatar stands globally recognized avatar.
You can register multiple emails and choose either various avatar to be associated with each email address or one avatar to be associated with ALL your email addresses.
For example, I usually use this avatar for doll related sites… so this image is associated with my dollsofcolor email address.
