First, a question… is there an online database or list somewhere that names all the Janay (and friends) dolls released? I could only find Fashion Royalty lists so far…
Second, my first Janay doll! … with Gumby* arms :S
Here is… Janay – Icons: Fashion Idols (2003)
I’d also found out that the Janay and friends dolls were only sold in the USA… because y’know… people of colour only live in the USA… *sigh*

Hi Therese! Thanks for posting my Webshots photo link. Yay!
Oh, I love, love, love some of the Integrity Janay and friends line. There used to be some Geocities websites that showed photos of various Janay issues. I had the links on my old computer that crashed
I think most of those were not uploaded elsewhere.
By what I own and/or have seen, the basic Janay doll line includes:
Janay, Jordan, Alysa, Alejandro, Jade, Giselle, Justin, and Tariq.
Janay, Jordan, and Tariq are African American. Alysa and Alejandro are Hispanic American. Jade is Asian American. (No Asian American male was issued for this series to my knowledge.) Giselle and Justin are Caucasian American.
The Janay dolls were also available in Canada – at least through some doll dealers. Several of my dolls came from My Favorite Doll.

Glad you enjoy the collection, too
Haven’t found any lists online. There were some websites with photos of Janay and friends dolls, but they don’t seem to be around anymore
I’ll see what list I can pull together from information on my doll boxes. I don’t think that Integrity has information about the Janay line on their website anymore now that the line’s been discontinued.

Thinking of CJStarz’s reply to the Olmec post… it would be interesting to write about the evolution… or regression of Integrity Toys, being a maker of dolls of color to one that makes fancy wancy dolls that few can afford comfortably because y’know, there aren’t expensive toymakers around already /snark (I have a few but oh they are such a PAIN! pain! PAIN!!!)… I would like to think that now they have made such an elite name for themselves, even their dolls of color would be well sought after hmmm?
This one time (American Pie lolol) during christmas season in 2007 I walk into a discount store downtown brooklyn! They had a wall full of janay dolls for 3.99! I bought 5! There really isn’t a lot of information about them!

Yes, I still have them! In 2010 I’m making a to do list on what to talk about on my blog and I going to put Janay on top of that list! I wish they will sell more of these dolls!

The Janay eGroup has a limited amount of info and pictures available.

I don’t think anybody ever made a webpage about Janay, because the dolls used to be so widely available online. Now that info is all gone.
I regret not buying every single Janay I ever put my hands on. I think some of the last Janays are nicer than any of the new Basic Editions.

I’ve joined the yahoo group yesterday! So much loveliness in the galleries!
I think all the collectors should join up and create a Janay database… I’d volunteer if no one else does O_o
Ok, just posted a note in the Yahoo groups – don’t know if I did it right though… because it’s not showing up :/
