coye has just commented in the New “NEWS” about So In Style Dolls! post -
hi all, i JUST saw these dolls in Toys R Us here in Chicago! i had them in my hand and put them down for a few mere seconds and they were snatched up. i’ll need to check target tomorrow.
the dolls are beautiful and have great new head sculpts. each doll costs approximately $22 and comes with a little sister.
i did read the back story on the boxes and it stated that Grace was a friend of Barbie who moved to Chicago.
…
i think it’s wonderful that Mattel is finally stepping up and doing this.
thank you Mattel and thank you Stacey!
How wonderful does that sound? Expect pictures to be appearing any day now! *runs around crazy*
OMG! PICTURES!!!

Thanks for the photos! And the alert that the dolls are out now.
I want all three. I’m greedy. No, I’m not – that’s only six dolls. LOL
Again, thanks for the update.

hahaha, i THINK these might be the same 3 that i saw last night at Toys R Us! i distinctly remember that Trichelle’s ponytail on her left side was kinda poofy and off. i knew i shouldn’t have put them down… LOL. i guess you snooze, you lose.

Okay, I am SOLD! These dolls are very pretty and its a shame that it took Obama to become president for Mattel to make an all African American doll line. Neverless, the dolls are now on my wishlist!

Hi gang. You will absolutely love these ladiesl!!!! The adults all have the Mbili face sculpt (think Tatu,Sugar, Society Girl, Princess Of South Africa to name a few) The have lots of accessories and have great play and collector possibilities. I got mine in Chicago on wednesday and I think I grabbed up the last three. I’ve heard there will be at least one (maybe two) more sets this year.

So far this year there have been some really great Black Barbie’s. We got Alvin Ailey, the repro Julia and A.K.A (by the way the designer of A.K.A also designed the So In Style dolls) and not to mention the gorgeous Holiday and other 50th Anniversary dolls.

I desperately want the AKA doll now! But she goes for upwards of $200 Aussie dollars now (usually from US sellers so that excludes postage costs too) *sigh*

OMG! These dolls are so beautiful! I must have them fr my birthday this year! When I saw them in Walmart I immediately purchased one of the baby sister dolls. I am ecstatic to find out that an African American woman designed these adorable dolls. I am a doll enthusiastso I am doing backflips. ;D <3 So happy.
