Working on the Janay Face Sculpt Database

Friday, January 8th, 2010

With many thanks to D7ana, Kim and the internet, the Janay Face Sculpt database is going quite well. There are still a lot more dolls missing and a lot of stock numbers missing, some of the years of released noted are a bit iffy.

If you think you can help me out with this database, please feel free to send me an email! Any help is greatly appreciated :)

First, a question… is there an online database or list somewhere that names all the Janay (and friends) dolls released? I could only find Fashion Royalty lists so far…

Second, my first Janay doll! … with Gumby* arms :S

Here is… Janay – Icons: Fashion Idols (2003)

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Inspired by D7ana‘s last post (Collector Confession: Photos Speak a 1000 Words), I’ve taken a few shots of my CLEAN & NEAT study/doll room. It is actually rarely this neat, that’s why today is such an occasion!

Dearth of Black and Hispanic Dolls?

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Please read Dana’s posting Dearth of Black and Hispanic Dolls? for a great analysis from a doll consumer/collector point of view.

My question… so obviously, nobody is worried about “white” dolls being scarce… “black” and “hispanic” dolls are apparently harder to find… how about ASIAN dolls?

The strangest part? Jennifer 8. Lee sounds like an Asian name (I did think at first maybe this the English surname “Lee” but then I noticed the 8 in the writer’s name, 8 is linked to good luck in Chinese)
